Diagnosing whiplash injuries

The most frequent complaints are headaches and stiffness in the neck and the back of the head. These symptoms appear within the first couple of days after the accident and usually pass after a few days to a few weeks.

It is sometimes difficult to identify the specific whiplash injury that someone has suffered. Whiplash is now known to be a common injury sustained by the driver or passengers involved in front or rear end collisions on the road. If you believe you have any of the symptoms associated with this injury it's definitely worth getting it checked out by a GP.

Your GP will ask you about the circumstances of the accident, the symptoms you are suffering from, and you will be given a physical examination. If a neck fracture is suspected, you will probably need to go for an x-ray.

If you have any of these symptoms following a road accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to claim compensation. Please call us now on 0845 676 0615 for help and advice from one of our experienced claims advisors.
