What happens if I make a non-fault claim
on my car insurance policy?

There may be disadvantages to making a non-fault claim on your own car insurance policy.

  • You will almost certainly have to pay your insurance excess

  • Your insurance premiums could increase as a result of your claim

  • If your no-claims discount is not protected, you could lose it

  • You may get a courtesy car, but it may not be appropriate for your needs

  • There could be limitations on the length of time you can use the courtesy car for

  • You may not have a choice where your vehicle is repaired

  • Your policy may not include legal support
