Treating whiplash with Cranial Osteopathy

Osteopaths work to restore the structure and function of the body to a condition of balance and harmony, and so help the whole person.

Effective maintenance of the body's mechanical functions is essential to good health. Problems in the framework of the body can disrupt the circulatory system or nerves to any part of the body, and affect any aspect of your health.

What is Cranial Osteopathy?

Cranial osteopathy is a subtle type of osteopathic treatment that encourages the release of stresses and tensions throughout the body, including the head. It is a gentle but effective method and may be used in a wide range of conditions for people of various ages.

Osteopaths often have different specialities including sports injuries, paediatrics, and visceral osteopathy (treating the internal organs of the body). Cranial osteopathy includes all of these.

This branch of osteopathy deals with the cranial bones and with many head traumas as well as whiplash injuries. It's a very subtle treatment which releases tension and soothes the body and mind.

What does a visit to an osteopath involve?

The osteopath will ask you about various aspects of your symptoms and general health. The osteopath may asses you from your stance or by asking you to gently move your head or neck during the initial examination.

Most people find the treatment relaxing, but some may experience some mild discomfort for a short time after treatment. For more information on this treatment you should consult with your medical practitioner.
