Whiplash and memory loss

There have been many instances of cognative or psychological disturbances reported following severe whiplash injuries, one of which is memory loss or delayed amnesia.

There have been studies conducted into this and other cognative issues including reduced attentional functioning, but the symptoms do not usually persist except in extreme cases.

It is believed that rather than from a detectable physical injury to the brain, the condition is induced either by the trauma of the initial whiplash injury or to psychological problems adjusting to the pain and discomfort experienced as a result of the physical injuries associated with whiplash.

If you have had a whiplash injury and believe you may have any of these symptoms, you should always consult a medical professional for further advice.

If you have sustained a whiplash injury following a road accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to claim compensation for your injury. Please call us now on 0845 676 0615 for help and advice from one of our experienced claims advisors.
