Can I get a hire car after an accident if I don’t have one on my policy?

If you don’t already have the ‘hire-car option’ box ticked on your car insurance policy then you may have a problem.

You can however get a hire-car that is paid for by the at-fault drivers insurance company if you use our independent accident assistance service instead of a claim on your car insurance policy.

We and our partners have helped thousands of people make their accident claims over the years. We and our partners recover the costs of our services directly from the insurer of the person at-fault for the accident, so there is an alternative to a claim on your own insurance policy.

Our customers do not pay for our assistance – the insurer of the driver responsible for the accident does.

Your insurer does not handle the claims process for you, we do. So, your accident repairs, your hire-car and your legal assistance are all arranged and managed by us.

Consequently you do not have to pay the excess on your policy and your renewal costs should not be affected by your non-fault accident.

Will I get a decent hire car?

We provide what is called a like-for-like replacement hire car for you. This is basically a hire-car that is chosen based on the make, model and engine size of your own vehicle. This means you get the type of vehicle you need and not just an old garage ‘courtesy car’.

The majority of the vehicles we supply are less than 6 months old and are typically delivered within 3 hours of starting you claim.

In the event that your own vehicle is a ‘total loss’ or ‘write-off’ – you will be allowed to keep your hire-car for up to 7 days after you have received your final settlement cheque.

In addition to you hire-car, we will provide the following services for you: -

  • We will arrange for your vehicle to be repaired at one of our approved accident repair centres or at a repair centre of your own choice

  • If you need legal assistance, the solicitors we work with can look into legal issues such as the recovery of expenses or personal injury compensation for you
