Motorbike accident claims – you don’t have to pay your excess


Even if you were not at-fault for the accident you were involved in, you will almost certainly still have to pay your full excess amount before your repairs are carried out.

It’s up to you. If your policy provides the legal cover and the assistance you require and you are not concerned about the effect your claim may have on your future insurance costs – you may choose to claim on you own insurance policy.

Why do I have to pay my excess if I am not at-fault?

Your insurer will be notified ‘for information purposes only’ as you are required to do, but they will not - and do not, need to assist with your accident.

This means that you don't have any excess to pay and your policy renewal costs should not be affected by your claim.

  • All costs associated with the resolution of your accident claim are recovered directly from the at-fault drivers insurer on your behalf
