Recovering from a whiplash injury

Recovering from a whiplash injury will obviously depend on the severity of the condition.

With a relatively minor case of whiplash a good recovery can be made within a few weeks of an accident. People who suffer from Whiplash-Associated Disorders such as shoulder pain, neck pain, restricted neck movement, tingling or heaviness in the arms can often experience discomfort from these symptoms for up to three months from the date of the original injury.

Symptoms such as a tingling sensation or numbness in the arms can sometimes indicate nerve damage. If this is the case it may take longer to heal than other Whiplash-Associated Disorders and a person may experience these symptoms for longer than the usual 3 month recovery period. Other psychological symptoms such as depression, insomnia and irritability can also indicate of a longer recovery time.

If you have sustained a whiplash injury following a road accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to claim compensation. Please call us now on 0845 676 0615 for help and advice from one of our experienced claims advisors.
