Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency consults motorists on proposed changes to the UK Driving Test. 15/07/16

On Thursday 14 July the DVSA began a consultation period with the motoring public to find out their views on the proposed changes to the current UK Driving Test.

The proposed changes are:

  • To increase the duration of 'independent diving' part of the test from 10 to 20 minutes

  • Candidates would be asked to follow directions from a Sat Nav during the 'independent driving' part of the test

  • The ‘reverse around a corner’ and ‘turn in the road’ manoeuvres would be replaced with more realistic scenarios, such as driving into and reversing out of a parking bay

  • Candidates will be asked a vehicle safety question from what are known as the ‘show me, tell me’ questions during the 'independent diving' part of the test

If you want to take part, the consultation period ends on Thursday 25 August 2016.
