Motor Accident?

Driving in slow moving traffic queues. 15/10/15

Everyone gets caught up in traffic queues from time-to-time, but not everyone knows the correct way to drive in these situations.

  • On a motorway or dual carriagway - don't be tempted to keep switching lanes. It is irritating to other drivers and it rarely makes much difference to your journey time

  • If you choose to change lanes be aware that cyclists or motorcyclists could be passing on either side

  • On a motorway or dual carriagway - don't use the left hand to overtake

  • Leave enough distance between you and the vehicle in front to stop safely, but not so big that it impedes the smooth traffic flow

  • When queueing past a side road, allow access for vehicles to turn in to or out of the side road
