If your brakes are affected by water 13/02/14

The prolonged spell of wet weather this winter has left many roads flooded or impassable.

Driving your vehicle through large pools of water on the road surface should always be avoided if at all possible.

If you do choose to drive through surface water, you should do so slowly and with extreme caution.

Be aware however that even a water depth of a few inches can affect the performance of your brakes.

If you have just driven through water, it is a good idea to gently test your brakes afterwards, but only if it is safe to do so.

If they are not working as they should, then apply light pressure while driving slowly and this should help to dry them out.
