Motor Accident?

Box junctions and how to use them. 17/01/18

Do you remember what you are supposed to do at a Box junction?

For those who are struggling to remember what they are, they are often where several roads intersect and are marked on the road surface by a yellow box with a yellow cross-hatch pattern inside.

There are 3 rules you must follow when you come accross one.

  • You MUST NOT enter the boxed area until your exit road or lane is clear of other vehicles

  • You MAY enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic or by other vehicles waiting to turn right

  • At signalled roundabouts you MUST NOT enter the box unless you can cross over it completely without stopping
