David Coulthard supports charity auction of Formula One memorabilia. 28/11/11
David Coulthard has announced his support for an auction of Formula One items in aid of the Wings for Life charity on thursday, December 1 at Mercedes-Benz world Brooklands.
The 19 lots on offer include a number of items used by Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel at various Grand Prix events this year.
The collection includes a fireproof undergarment worn by Vettel at the Malaysia Grand Prix, racing overalls worn by both drivers and a pair of driving boots worn by Vettel during the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne last March.
The Wings for Life charity was set up to help provide funds for research into a cure for spinal paralysis.
An estimated 3 million people worldwide have to live with spinal injuries, with 50% of the injuries being sustained as a result of road accidents.
Speaking in support of this weeks auction David Coulthard said "If you’re a Formula One fan, or even if you’re not, please get behind it. You will be helping to accelerate that big breakthrough in spinal cord research."
