Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 Highlights. 16/09/11

This years 2011 motor show is demonstrates the motor industry's continuing attempts to produce cost and environmentally conscious vehicles. Along with the usual attention grabbing concept vehicles there are a number of manufacturers who are showing models which are actually intended to go into production.

BMW is starting to move into the environmentally conscious market with it's new i3 electric supermini.

The i3 is powered by 125kW electric motor with a range of between 80 and 100 miles and a top speed of 93mph.

Although the i3 takes 8 hours to charge fully it only takes 1 hour to reach 80% of it's capacity. Despite it being economical to drive there is however quite a substantial estimated initial outlay of around £35,000 when it goes on sale in 2013.

VW have announced a conventional petrol engined vehicle in the same league as the Hyundai i10 and Citroen C1. The Volkswagen Up will be available in both 3 and 5 door versions and has a 'new generation' 3 cylinder 1 litre engine.

The manufacturers plan to introduce several variants on the basic model including GT, LPG, electric and even a 'beach buggy' version.

The GT version is going to be in the spirit of the Golf GTi according to the manufacturers, with the light weight chassis and a 98bhp 1 litre engine delivering exceptional performance.

Moving up-market a little, Land Rover were demonstrating the evolution of the Defender with 2 new concept cars on show.

The new models are called the DC100 and DC100 Sport and are due to be launched in 2015.

Finally for those who can enjoy the top end of the market, Ferrari showed off the stunning new Ferrari 458 Spider.

Ferrari claims it can reach 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph.

No need to claim on your insurance

Anyone who has been involved in a road accident has the right to choose who repairs their vehicle. If you were responsible for the accident you were involved in, the company that insures your vehicle would normally deal with your accident claim.

However if you were not at-fault for the accident, you can choose to either claim on your own insurance policy or make a claim independently of your insurer. To find out more call 02392 484 244 and we will be happy to help.

We and our partners help thousands of people make independent accident claims. Our service enables motorists to get the help and assistance they need to resolve their accident related issues, with the costs being recovered directly from the at-fault driver on your behalf.

No excess to pay

Unfortunately even if an accident was not your fault, your insurer will almost certainly require you to pay your excess before any repair is started on your car.

By using our independent claims service, you are not making a claim on your insurance policy and so you will have no excess to pay.
