Orders being taken for new VW Beetle. 24/10/11
Orders are now being taken for the new style VW Beetle, with delivery expected in the spring of 2012.The new sportier styling is hoped will tempt more male buyers, as up until now sales have predominantly been by female customers.
Initially the UK can expect four engine versions, although they will not all be available immediately. Two petrol versions will be available first with a 105hp 1.2 litre model with 7-speed DSG gearbox and a 160 hp 1.4 litre model with a 6-speed manual box.
Later in the year a 2 litre petrol and 2 litre TDI version will become available. Also planned is a 1.6 litre TDI with BlueMotion technology.
Prices are expected to range from £16,490 to £21,220 for the higher spec models.
